At the beginning of 2014, I began consulting for the Cultural Evolution of Religion Research Consortium (CERC) as a developer for their text analysis system, and was eventually asked to rebuild it to support extra features (you can check out the code here, releases are not guaranteed to be stable). Later in the year, I took CPSC 547, and built a system for visualizing the data produced, which is at paulbucci.ca/covis. Character collocation The scripts developed for CERC involved calculating the distances between key words in ancient Chinese literature, as illustrated below. CoVis The CoVis system takes collocation data in the form of a CSV and produces interactive visualizations of the key metrics.
