Backyard Biodiversity

Designs for the Backyard Biodiversity exhibition at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum. The exhibition was developed in conjunction with the Children’s Writers and Illustrators of BC. Each section of the exhibition space corresponded to a book and environment theme such as the ocean, the park, or the forest. Activities and display cases reinforced learning about theĀ animals one could find in each environment. The exhibition was designed to accommodate children 5-10 years old and their parents. Posters Each poster was a 120inx44in scene-setting backdrop, reflecting the context of the animals on display in nearby cases, as well as the context of the children's book that was featured in the area. Posters were used as promotional materials in and around the museum. Promotional materials Space diagrams The content of the exhibition was curated by a team of researchers and education experts. My role, outside of designing print materials, was to visualize the exhibition space in a way that allowed the curation team to fine-tune the experience of visitors. Shown here is an example of some of the diagrams created as part of the process leading up to installation. Label automation The label system was designed for effecient layout using InDesign's built-in automation features.
